sfBIG elects Adam Kleinberg to 2012 Board
by Adam Kleinberg
sfBIG has elected a new Board of Directors and I'm proud to announce I'm one of them.
I'm particularly excited because at the first board meeting I participated in, we made the decision to change the name from the San Francisco Bay Area Interactive Group to the San Francisco Bay Area Innovation Group.
Here's three great reasons why I've chosen to participate in sfBIG.
1. As the largest industry organization in the Bay Area, sfBIG is in the strongest position to really make a difference when it comes to uniting, serving and advocating for the San Francisco and Silicon Valley technology and marketing communities. It's a honor for me to be chosen to help make that difference—and some of the initiatives you'll see from sfBIG in 2012 will really raise some eyebrows.
2. sfBIG is expanding its horizons and its charter. The change from "Interactive" to "Innovation" isn't just cosmetic. My presence as the head of a creative agency on the board reflects that. Until now, the organization has been largely focused on the media buying and selling community. sfBIG has expanded the board to include members of the creative community, the venture community and others to broaden its view of a changing marketplace. I've long held that when media and creative work together, success is sure to follow. I look forward to championing that.
3. Action! sfBIG president Aimee Rosewall-Godley from AOL is a dynamo and things are happening right out the gate in 2012. sfBIG just launched a new website, we've created a new job board to serve the community, we've raised thousands of dollars to help put computers in San Francsico schools (a great long-term investment in our community), and more.
And that's just the stuff I can talk about. More BIG stuff to come.
