Hello Internet! A presentation on memes
Words by Traction Alumni, Kasey Smith
Memes are important. Why? Because even if you don't actively mine them for content you should at least actively understand them - or else this happens and you embarrass a client. Since Traction's work is neither created nor received in a vacuum, I've taken it upon myself to "educate" the office on the current state of internet memes.
How am I doing this? By culling the best of Tumblr, Reddit, YouTube, etc into one compact, simplistic, monthly presentation. This is the second in my series; the first being on The State of Cat Memes in 2012.
In Hello Internet! Kasey’s thoughts on current internet memes August - September 2012 we covered the history, parodies, remixes and video/image appropriations related to PSY's "Gangnam Style" video, the Ecce Homo fresco restoration in Spain, and the TLC reality show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Child". While the presentation is a bit rough - especially sans narration - I hope you enjoy the backstory on these three memes.
