My New Role with sfBIG

By Adam Kleinberg

sfBIG (San Francisco Bay Area Innovation Group) is the largest ad industry organization in the Bay Area and is dedicated to driving thought leadership and bringing learning and networking opportunities to our community.

This community has given lots to me, so I was super-excited when sfBIG president John Durham gave me a chance to give back when he asked me to take over duties as Content Chairperson this summer.

First, I have to give props to Cory Treffiletti, the VP of Strategy for Oracle Marketing Cloud who previously held this role for the past few years and produced amazing and memorable content. I had appreciated it before, but have a new appreciation today for the hard work you did for the sfBIG, Cory. Happy birthday, btw!

Today was the first event I had a hand in planning and the theme was "How are bands really using video?" in an interconnected world at the classic Palace Hotel. We had a really interesting overview of how TV and digital video worked together from Wendell Wenjen, the VP of Business Development at Simulmedia (check out his presentation on SlideShare ) followed by a terrific panel with Dave Toner VP of Integrated Marketing from Shutterfly , Uwe Hook former creative director AND media director from consultancy Gretchenfrage, and Adam Harris from Collective Media.

The feedback on the panel was amazing. People tweeted. There were tears of joy.

I'm looking forward to upcoming events including one on "How are brands adjusting to Big Data" and another on "Are we Leaning In?" to probe into whether we as an industry are doing enough to support women.

If you're interested in volunteering, I'm looking to put together a content planning committee, so please email me at adam at tractionco dot com.

I'd love to hear your content ideas, so please send share any you have in the comments!
